Search and rescue teams are continuing to scour a west Auckland forest for a 21-year-old woman who has been missing since last Thursday.

Carissa Avison was given a lift from Holder Place on the North Shore about 10am that day to Coast Road in Muriwai, arriving about 11am.

Police said they were working in the forest area near the corner of Coast and Grass Track Roads.

They said they had no reason at this stage to suspect foul play, but were concerned for Ms Avison's safety, describing her actions as out of character.

She was last seen wearing black leggings, a white T-shirt, black Nike shoes with white soles, and possibly a turquoise-coloured jacket.
