Residents of American Samoa who normally apply for their US visas at the US Embassy in Samoa will have to go to New Zealand or Fiji to get their documents over the next three months.
This comes with the staffer at the Apia Embassy ended her term.
Visa applicants are advised that during the months of June, July and August they will need to apply at the US Consulate in Auckland or the US embassy in Suva.
Travel agents in American Samoa say this will be a burden for residents who will have to pay airfares to Apia, and New Zealand, plus accommodation and expenses, while there is no guarantee their visa applications will be granted.
