Judicial review of panel set up to investigate judge

21:29 pm on 1 July 2010

In an unusual move, a panel of three High Court judges will hear a judicial review of the decision to establish a Judicial Conduct Panel to investigate Supreme Court judge Bill Wilson.

Justice Wilson claims the Judicial Conduct Commissioner made several errors in law in recommending that the panel be set up.

At the heart of the investigation are statements Justice Wilson made to the Supreme Court about his business relationship with a lawyer who appeared before him in a Court of Appeal case.

The judicial review will be heard in the High Court in Wellington from 1-3 September.
