Solomons/Vanuatu trade link delayed

14:09 pm on 20 January 2012

A proposed trade link between Temotu Province in Solomon Islands and Vanuatu has been delayed.

A statement from the Temotu provincial government says the delay is due to changes in leadership with the central government late last year.

The trade link was initiated by the Minister for Culture and Tourism, Samuel Manetoali, in consultation with the Premier of Temotu, Father Brown Beu.

According to the Solomon Star, the statement says a reciprocal visit by the Vanuatu government delegation should have taken place towards the end of last year but this did not eventuate.
