A person has been arrested following an incident between the occupants of two vehicles in the Auckland suburb of Westmere.
The police say there was a report before 6am this morning that the people in one of the vehicles had a firearm.
The vehicle was spotted on the Southern Motorway mid-afternoon and was followed by the Eagle helicopter to Khyber Pass Road where a male and a female were taken into custody.
A replica firearm was found in the vehicle.
In a statement, police said enquiries into the incident were ongoing and no charges had been laid at this stage.
