The results of Turkey's knife-edge election between 20-year-reigning President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and opposition rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu will run-off to May 28th.

Mr Erdogan led the first round with 49.51 percent of the vote, while Kemal Kilicdaroglu polled 44.88 percent.

Although Mr Erdogan appears the clear favourite, he would need more than 50 percent to win the race outright.

RNZ Turkish correspondent Trent Murray has the story and spoke with Ingrid Hipkiss.
