The Fiji Aviation Workers Association's general secretary Attar Singh says it will strike against its employer Air Pacific if the airline continues to ignore outstanding claims spanning as far back as 1998.
Mr Singh says now they've reached a mandate for industrial action against Air Pacific, the onus is on the airline to return to negotiations.
He says the mandate reflects the fact that the workers feel frustrated and supressed at the way their rights and wellbeing have been continuously ignored by their employer.
Mr Singh says to avoid industrial action, the airline must come to the table to address the workers' issues.
"Failing that, the executive committee will decide on a time-table and the plan of action to be taken. What kind of industrial action we want to take, whether it's going to be a one-day strike or two day strike or a week-long strike or whether it's going to be rolling action. All these things will have to be studied and decided by the executive committee. And once I have that kind of mandate, authority from the executive committee, then I will go ahead if the issues remain unresolved at that time."
