Buses are off the road from 9.30am until 2pm due to a union meeting. Nearly half of Auckland's bus routes are affected.

The bus services run by NZ Bus, which includes most services in the central city and a few out east, west and on the North Shore, are out.

Some angry passengers took to social media to express their annoyance.

One man left a message on Auckland Transport's Facebook page saying he was left with no option but to take a taxi to a doctor's appointment and then a taxi to work.

A woman also said she was losing faith in public transport because of all the recent disruptions.

Several other bus users vented their frustrations on twitter.

Auckland Transport said it had staff at major bus stops and big social media campaigns warning of stopped services.

A full list of the affected routes is available on the Auckland Transport website.
