A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found at a property in the Auckland suburb of Massey early on Sunday.
The accused man, 43, was known to the woman.
He is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court on Wednesday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie said officers went to an address on Chorley Ave about 12.50am last Sunday.
They found the woman dead at the residence.
A homicide inquiry was launched and the man was arrested today.
"A scene examination commenced today and will continue into tomorrow, with further enquiries continuing as we piece together what occurred," Detective Senior Sergeant Goldie said.
A post-mortem examination has been completed.
Goldie said police had offered their condolences to the woman's family "at this extremely difficult time".
