08:41 am on 7 April 2020

Another person in French Polynesia has tested positive for Covid-19, raising the total to 42.

The tally also shows that the number of carriers in hospital has increased from one to two.

All cases are concentrated on Tahiti and Moorea.

The government said a first flight with medical supplies picked up in China is scheduled to arrive in Papeete this afternoon.

The plane left for Shanghai a week ago but spent most of the time in Japan waiting for the consignment to be readied.

Last month, the president Edouard Fritch said another such freight flight would follow soon.
