Drivers in Wellington have been asked by police to avoid the Paekakariki off-ramp area of State Highway 1, Transmission Gully, due to a serious crash.
Emergency services are working at the scene of the three-vehicle crash on the Paekakariki off-ramp.
"Initial indications are that there have been serious injuries," police said.
An emergency call about the crash was first placed about 7.10pm.
Traffic controls are in place at the scene, but police asked for drivers to avoid the area if possible.
