Windows broken by shots fired in Havelock North

19:31 pm on 18 June 2009

The police in Hastings are investigating the firing of shots that left broken windows in two houses in Havelock North.

Senior Sergeant Stu Fleming says that at about nine o'clock on Wednesday night a resident in Simla Ave found a smashed window at the front of their house.

About 20 minutes later a resident in another street several hundred metres away phoned the police after also finding a broken window.

Mr Fleming says the police suspect that the damage was done by pellets from an air rifle.
