Taranaki polytech's CFO resigns

20:00 pm on 30 September 2014

Another senior staff member at Taranaki's Western Institute of Technology, which is being investigated over irregularities in its Maori programmes, has resigned.

The polytechnic announced today its chief financial officer, Peter Rothwell, has resigned, effective immediately.

His resignation follows that of the head of Maori Tengaruru Wineera, who quit in July, and those of five of his staff who had earlier been suspended.

The Tertiary Education Commission began an audit of the polytechnic in June after complaints were made about its Maori Performing Arts Certificate.

It is unable to say when the investigation, which has since involved consultants Staples Rodway and Deloittes, will be completed.
