The Salvation Army has released its sixth social impact "dashboard", measuring how New Zealanders struggling with financial hardship have coped with Covid-19.
The results have been "disturbing and illuminating", according to the charity's social policy and parliamentary unit.
A focus in the latest report is housing and homelessness.
It is concerned the waiting list on the social housing register has exceeded 20,000 applicants for the first time.
