Covid-19 cases in Guam continue to rise

The number of Covid-19 cases has continued to rise in Guam over the weekend.

By Saturday the US terroritory had already reached 55 cases, including one death.

Last night, the Governor's Press Secretary, Krystal Paco-San Agustin, announced another case had now been confirmed.

"The Guam Public Health Lab tested 23 samples for Covid-19. Of those 23, one tested positive, bringing Guam's total Covid count to 56."

Krystal Paco-San Agustin said the Governor's office will continue to give regular updates as they come to hand.

The Governor, Lou Leon Guerrero, earlier stated Guam could continue to expect a surge of cases into this week.

Over the weekend US President Donald Trump declared a major disaster in Guam and ordered Federal assistance and funding for local efforts to combat Covid-19.
