Vodafone's mobile and broadband network users experienced significant disruption in the central North Island, after a cable was cut by a roading contractor.
Customers from Waikato to Wairarapa reported the outage, some since before 9am.
A fibre cable near Napier was damaged and, later in the morning, the same cable network was cut by a roadworker near Matamata.
Vodafone infrastructure director Tony Baird said repairs continue, but services have resumed.
The telco said customers were without cell phone reception or internet during the outage.
