The 34-year-old made the threats after police tried to stop his vehicle yesterday afternoon, he then fled to a boat moored in Tauranga Bridge Marina.

Police said the Armed Offenders Squad and police negotiators stayed at the marina overnight and the man left without incident at around 5am this morning.

He is due to appear in the Tauranga District Court on Monday.
