Maree Bowden bows out of Silver Ferns

Netball New Zealand has confirmed that midcourter Maree Bowden has made herself unavailable for selection for the 2010-11 Silver Ferns squad.

Thirty-year-old Bowden debuted three years ago and says she can no longer continue to manage the commitments required to be part of the Silver Ferns programme.

She says she's sad to leave but it's the right time to concentrate on her family and on developing her teaching career.

The Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken says while Bowden's contribution will be missed on and off the court it's a great chance for other midcourters to prove themselves.

The next Silver Ferns squad will be named in mid July after the ANZ Championship final series.
