The trial of Tongan government minister 'Etuate Lavulavu has been delayed until Monday after an intial petition hearing in Vava'u.
The petition from Villiami Latu alleges that Lavulavu breached the Elections Act by bribing voters to vote for him during his 2014 campaign.

Radio Tonga reports that Lavulavu's legal counsel requested an adjournment in the trial for further discussion of both parties.
This came after one witness gave evidence that Lavulavu offered her money which she presumed to be a gift for a vote which Lavulavu has denied.
The Chief Justice Owen Paulsen is presiding judge and granted the delay.
