The ANZ Bank's latest economic survey - the Truckometer - suggests a slowdown in growth may have levelled out and there are a few signs of a pick up.
The survey measures heavy and light truck movements and uses that as an indication of economic activity and growth.
The September monthly movements showed a lift on previous months, and ANZ senior economist Sharon Zollner said that suggested the economy may have passed through a flat spot in the middle of the year.
"There's definitely reasons to be cautious, monthly data can be volatile and it may of course reverse next month and make fools of us all," she said.
