Ponting makes Pakistan pay for let off

17:35 pm on 14 January 2010

Captain Ricky Ponting has made Pakistan pay for giving him an immediate life by lifting Australia out of trouble to be 192 for three at tea on the opening day of the third cricket test in Hobart.

Dropped on zero, Ponting's unbeaten on 84 having shared in a century stand with Michael Clarke who's 59 not out.

The fourth wicket stand is worth 122 after the pair came together with the home side 70 for three.

As well as being dropped at long-leg before he'd scored, Ponting has been hit twice on the helmet.
