The Black Sticks men are building momentum at the Nations Cup hockey tournament in Poland after downing Austria 3-0.
New Zealand made it two wins from two in the pool stage after opening their campaign with a 4-2 defeat of host nation Poland in Gniezno.
A dominane of possession told for the Black Sticks, who controlled the early stages and deserved to go a goal ahead when through Jonty Elmes after Isaac Houlbrooke squared an easy ball to put away.
A scoreless second quarter preceded New Zealand's best period, when they scored two goals in the space of 90 seconds.
Elmes got his second in almost a carbon copy of his first, this time from a Hugo Inglis assist to give the teenage striker his sixth goal in eight appearances for his country.
Moments later, Joe Morrison scored his first international goal as the New Zealaders moved closer to a place in the semifinals.
Their remaining pool games are against South Africa and then Korea.
Meanwhile, the Black Sticks women begin their respective Nations Cup tournament campaign when they face Chile in Terrassa, Spain, on Monday night.
