MetService has put a heavy rain warning in place for Buller and the Tasman region from early Tuesday morning, with 30 to 50cm of rain expected about the ranges.

Buller Civil Defence said more sandbags will be available tomorrow morning.

Sandbags will also be dropped to Carters Beach, Mokihinui, Granity, Hector and Reefton tomorrow.

Residents have been asked to ready themselves and their households, with the rain unlikely to ease until Thursday night.
