The political opposition says it support free trade, but it won't back the Trans Pacific Partnership if it undermines the country's sovereignty.

The party outlined five non-negotiable bottom lines:

  • Pharmac must be protected.
  • Corporations cannot successfully sue the Government for regulating in the public interest,
  • New Zealand maintains the right to restrict farm land sales and houses to foreigners
  • The Treaty of Waitangi must be upheld,
  • Meaningful tariff reductions and market access for agricultural goods.
  • The 12 Trade Ministers are gathering in Maui, Hawaii, this weekend to advance the controversial and secret TPP talks.
