Commuters in Wellington are being warned a bus strike today will cause disruption.
NZ Bus services on 20 routes will be cancelled between 9am and 3pm, but Metlink said services would be affected from 8am to 4pm.
Tramways Union spokesperson Kevin O'Sullivan said there were supposed to be stop work meetings today, but the company wanted them held as three separate meetings, to reduce the impact on services.
Instead the drivers have decided to strike to attend one meeting.
He said members would be discussing their collective agreements.
"There's a major change to shifts which [has] resulted in a big decrease in hours of work for a lot of people and that's not a satisfactory situation for us to be in."
The strike will mean 20 routes will be cancelled: 2, 3, 12, 14, 18, 18E, 20, 21, 22, 28, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 36, 81, 83, 84, and 85.
