18:44 pm on 1 September 2008

The New Zealand racing driver Scott Dixon has finished fifth in the penultimate race of the Indcycar series Detroit but retains a 30 point lead in the championship.

Dixon's nearest rival Helio (Elio ) Castroneves cut 13 points from his lead but a race controllers penalised the Brazilian for blocking and he finished second.

Dixon qualified fastest but struck problems on the tight street circuit with slower cars after his first pitstop.
