A man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a motorcyclist on State Highway 30 in Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Police say a man was shot near Te Teko yesterday afternoon, in what they are calling an unprovoked and cowardly attack on someone riding alone.
After working through the night last night, police said they located and arrested a 25-year-old man early this morning.
He appeared in the Whakatāne District Court today, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Enquiries continue to locate a second offender, and police say the public should expect to see more officers around the Te Teko and Kawerau areas.
