A maintenance company has been fined $31,500 and ordered to pay $50,000 in reparations to a worker who had to have his leg amputated after it was caught in a machine.
ABB Maintenance Services was contracted by Carter Holt Harvey to provide routine services to its paper machines in its Tokoroa plant.
Greg O'Neill was using the machine, known as a roll doctor, when it fell on his leg.
WorkSafe New Zealand said Carter Holt Harvey failed to warn Mr O'Neill the Roll Doctor was not bolted down.
