The Columbus Blue Jackets Ice Hockey club have signed Derick Brassard to a four-year contract extension keeping the centre with the team until the end of the 2013-14 season.
Although financial details were not disclosed by the Blue Jackets, local media estimate the deal to be worth $12.8 million US dollars.
The first pick by the Blue Jackets and sixth overall in the 2006 draft, Brassard posted 10 goals and 15 assists in 31 games in 2008-09 before his season ended last December with a dislocated shoulder.
