Counties Manukau police have launched a homicide investigation after the discovery of a body inside a burning vehicle on Alfriston Road, Manurewa.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 3am after reports a vehicle was on fire.
The body was discovered after fire crews put out the blaze.
Detective Inspector Chris Barry said officers were speaking with a man who is helping them with their enquiries.
They are working to establish the identity of the deceased person.
Police said they would look to provide further details this afternoon.
The scene is cordoned off and diversions are in place from the intersections of Alfriston Rd and Mill Rd, along Alfriston Rd to the intersection with Brookby Rd and Alfriston Ardmore Rd.
