Destiny school integration bid rejected

11:51 am on 19 March 2015

The Destiny Church says it is disappointed its application for one of its schools to become state-integrated has been declined.

A bid for the church's Destiny School and College in South Auckland to get taxpayer funding was rejected in December.

Vice-chairwoman of the school's board of governors, Anne Williamson, would not say why it was rejected.

She said the Ministry of Education advised the board to apply for integration after its bid to open a charter school failed in 2013.

She said Destiny School is now considering all its options, including legal action, after a church member offered to pay all its legal costs if needed.
