A developer of an Auckland property at the centre of a dispute over a kauri is worried about his safety and meeting with police today.

The council had allowed the removal of the tree, estimated to be up to 200 years old, so developers John Lenihan and Jane Greensmith could build two homes.
The couple announced yesterday that for now, they would not cut down the tree and an adjacent mature rimu, after four days of protest against the felling.
Mr Lenihan told Radio New Zealand he was meeting the police to talk about their concerns for their safety and the violation of their property.
He and Ms Greensmith have also asked the council to buy the Titirangi property from them but the mayor Len Brown said that won't happen.
The Auckland Council was arranging a meeting between the couple and senior staff to discuss what to do with the site.
