Air France ups Tahiti flights

Air France will increase the number of flights to French Polynesia as the Pacific territory opens up for tourism without imposing Covid-19 related quarantine.

The carrier said it would add a third weekly flight from Paris and Papeete from early August.

Travellers arriving from France have to self-isolate for seven days but from next week, arriving passengers only need to prove that they were Covid-19 free three days before departure.

However, masks have to be worn on Air France flights which, for the time being, will keep being routed via Vancouver instead of Los Angeles.

Air Tahiti Nui resumed its Paris service last week and French Bee will restart its regular Paris to Papeete flights next week.

Before then French Bee will have a special flight for French teachers and their families from Tahiti to France via Guadeloupe.

Air New Zealand announced that its Papeete flights would be suspended until at least 24 October.

In May, Air New Zealand said it would restart services in August if French Polynesia dropped quarantine requirements.
