Blogger Cameron Slater was back in court today over a defamation case which dates back to 2012.
Matthew Blomfield is suing Mr Slater in relation to a 2012 blog post.
Earlier this month an Auckland High Court judge found Mr Slater was in contempt of court after he breached an undertaking not to publish information about Mr Blomfield that was not already in the public domain.
At a hearing today, Mr Blomfield's lawyer, Miles Beresford, withdrew an earlier request for Mr Slater to be jailed but asked the court to impose a $2000 fine.
Mr Slater told the court he had not acted maliciously and the breach was a mistake after he misinterpreted the undertaking.
He said ongoing attempts by Mr Blomfield to seek court orders against him, including bankruptcy proceedings, were designed to wear him down financially.
