A new archbishop for Guam's embattled catholic church arrives on the island today.
Michael Jude Byrnes will be formally welcomed into the Archdiocese of Agana in a series of formal ceremonies this week.
The church is embroiled in controversy over several allegations of historical child sex abuse against Archbishop Anthony Apuron, dating from the 1970s.
The territory's government recently changed the law to remove the statute of limitations preventing the church from being sued.
Archbishop Apuron also faces a trial in the Vatican.
However, while he has been relieved of his duties, Mr Apuron remains the island's archbishop alongside Mr Byrne until he either resigns, retires or is removed.
