Fiji Labour stalwart Datt considers own party

14:01 pm on 29 June 2012

A founder of the Fiji Labour Party and former minister, Krishna Datt, says he may form a new political party before the elections promised for 2014.

Mr Datt has told the Fijivillage website that it is not time for confrontation but cooperation.

He says a new generation of voters is likely to look for an educated response and not too much of table banging and thigh thumping.

Mr Datt says his group will only join the Fiji Labour Party if the leadership is changed.

He added that his group would not condone unilateral impositions, non-transparent actions that undermine human rights, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and association.
