Police divers have searched a stretch of the Waikato River near Hamilton for a man missing since being pursued by police on Saturday.
Fahad Alsalmah, 25, a Saudi national, was last seen when his car was pursued by police for several kilometres from near the airport to the Narrows Bridge.
Police say Mr Alsalmah got out of his car and fled in the direction of the river.
They say officers on foot and a police dog were used to search for the man.
Detective Sergeant Neville Ross says there has not been any use of Mr Alsalmah's bank account or cellphone since Saturday, and police are now looking into the possibility that he may have drowned.
A rescue boat has been on the river over the past few days, with divers called in on Thursday.
Police say the divers will continue searching on Friday.
