The Hospitality Association has asked Parliament to make the process for getting a special liquor licence for the 2011 Rugby World Cup even faster than currently proposed.
A Parliamentary Select Committee is hearing submissions in Auckland on the Rugby World Cup (Empowering) Bill, which would allow the Rugby World Cup Authority to fast-track special liquor licences.
The bill would give the police and other agencies 15 days to respond to applications, while other interested parties would have five days.
The association says there may be last-minute applications by ethnic-theme bars during the tournament.
