The refugees include Afghans, Pakistani and two Rohingyans.

It takes to 146 the number of refugees from Nauru who have been taken to the US to be resettled.

Meanwhile the Refugee Action Coalition said the situation for the refugees remaining on Nauru was deteriorating by the day.

Its spokesman Ian Rintoul said in the past week, another three people had been transferred from Nauru to Australia because of debilitating mental health issues created by their detention on Nauru.

He said there was also growing disquiet at the conditions in the family camp, where asylum seekers and refugees were still "housed" in mouldy tents.

Mr Rintoul said there were about 50 children still living in such tents.
