The first super full moon of 2025 is here and stargazers across Aotearoa have been able to catch a glimpse.

The moon appeared bigger and brighter in the sky on Tuesday night.

The supermoon will look its fullest on Tuesday, but if you happen to miss it, it will still be visible on Wednesday.

Stardome astronomer Josh Aoraki said there were usually a few supermoons each year.
