Staff at Auckland hospitals will get to park for free while they are at work, during the lockdown period.
A City Hospital a nurse had told RNZ it was shameful she had to pay $19 for parking after a full day's work under pandemic pressure.
The Auckland District Health Board said it had told staff today it would be raising the carpark barrier arms at its hospitals over the next month while public transport was limited.
It had also secured extra parking at Grafton.

The District Health Board told RNZ yesterday it was in discussions with the owners of the carparks - but it did not say that it was itself the owner.
