Sniffer dog finds drugs in mail in American Samoa

A woman who turned up at the American Samoa Post Office in Pago Pago to pick up her mail ended up in jail pending police investigations of drugs allegedly found in the package she claimed.

The Chief of Customs, Moetului Sipili Fuiava, said a dog sniffed out methamphetamine in the package.

He said about 1.3 kilograms of the drug was within computer parts.

Police have put the street value of the drug at $US150,000.

The woman has not been charged with possession of methamphetamine.
