Tahiti veterans critical of French visit as compensation lags

French Polynesia's nuclear test veterans organisation says the latest visit by a French government delegation looks like taxpayer-funded tourism.

The team - made up of mainly parliamentarians - is expected to help the government adjust the compensation law as too many victims of the weapons tests are missing out.

Roland Oldham of the organisation Moruroa e tatou told Walter Zweifel that such a trip makes little sense.
