New Zealand Breakers star Corey Webster appears set to remain with the National Basketball League club as he prepares to face court on an assault charge.

Webster was arrested and charged with minor assault following an early-morning incident at an Auckland bar last Wednesday.

The Breakers suspended Webster for Friday's loss to the Illawarra Hawks for "breaching team and club values" in his decision to stay out late and his communication with the club about the incident.

But the point guard returned for the Breakers' loss to Melbourne United on Sunday, top-scoring with 15 points.

Coach Paul Henare was tight-lipped when asked about Webster's future.

"There's a court hearing on Tuesday morning and we'll deal with that and whatever comes out of that," he said.

"There's no trial or anything happening so it's just something that he's working away (on) with his people and he'll just have to deal with it."

The Breakers have lost four games in a row and sit bottom of the ladder as they prepare to host Brisbane on Thursday.
