Kathmandu shares rise on profit forecast

Shares in Kathmandu jumped more than 13% on Wednesday, after the outdoor clothing and equipment company said its first half year profit could rise by more than a quarter.

Kathmandu says trading in its New Zealand and Australian stores has been strong.

The company expects sales at stores for open more than a year, to have risen by more than 10% in the six months to the end of January.

Kathmandu expects pre-tax earnings of between $18.5 - $19.5 million in the period - an increase of 26% on the same time last year.
