21:15 pm on 11 March 2015

An election petition filed against the Minister of Infrastructure in Tonga alleging illegal practices and bribery will go to trial from April 13.

Matangi Tonga reports the trial by jury will be held in Vava'u and overseen by the Chief Justice Owen Paulsen.

The petition was filed by former Vava'u People's Representative Dr Viliami Latu and 'Aisea Silivenusi in December.

They allege Lavulavu committed bribery and other illegal practices during his election campaign for the Vava'u constituency.
