Plans for building near Tekapo church considered

08:08 am on 1 February 2010

The Mackenzie Anglican and Presbyterian Co-operating Parish says no decision has been made yet on a proposal for a new building near the Church of the Good Shepherd in Tekapo.

The parish is considering whether to build a facility for tourism guides on land close to the church, which overlooks Lake Tekapo and is visited by thousands of tourists every year.

About 60 parishioners attended a meeting to discuss the proposal on Sunday afternoon.

The parish council says the church is in the early stages of looking at the idea and no decisions have been made.
