Vets welcome access to rapid antigen tests for staff

Vets are welcoming the news they'll be able to access rapid antigen tests as critical workers in the Omicron outbreak.

The government has included animal welfare professionals among those who can end self-isolation early via a negative rapid antigen test, if they're a close contact of a Covid-19 case.

The chief executive of the Veterinary Association, Kevin Bryant, said it was a relief for the stretched workforce, amid major staff shortages.

He said it meant vets could continue critical work with minimal disruption as the outbreak continues.
