Five people are in Christchurch Hospital, one critically injured, after a car crashed into a power pole early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash at the intersection of Waltham Road and Brougham Street in Sydenham at 3.30am.
Three of the passengers have moderate injuries and the fourth is in a serious condition.
