Three people have died following a car crash on the East Coast north of Gisborne this morning.
Emergency services are at the scene on State Highway 35 at Te Araroa.
Police said the crash, reported to have been a car hitting a tree, was reported just before 6am.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
